On Nov 25, 2019, Professor Weihua Ming of the Georgia Southern University in the United States was invited to our school for academic exchanges. The wonderful report entitled " Multifunctional Polymeric Materials & Coatings " were held in the 2A419. Professor Weihua Ming mainly introduced the construction of multi-functional polymer coating system, introduced the research contents and latest developments of his research group, and focused on the aspects of high-efficiency antibacterial, bactericidal coating, high-efficiency anti-fog and anti-frost coating, progress in the current analysis of the advantages and disadvantages of antibacterial materials. Then he summed up the construction of anti-fog surface, the importance of research on the anti-icing surface, and put forward the future expectations of the above fields. Both reports attracted plenty of teachers and students to participate, and the atmosphere was very hot. Professor Ming also had extensive discussions and exchanges with teachers and students.
Professor Weihua Ming obtained a bachelor's degree from Fudan University in 1993, a Ph.D. from Fudan University in 1998, and a postdoctoral research at the Eindhoven University of Technology from 1998 to 2000. From 2000 to 2007, he worked as a professor at Eindhoven University of Technology and from 2007 to 2011 as an associate professor at the University of New Hampshire. In 2011, he joined the Georgia Southern University of the United States and was promoted to the full professor in 2014. The main research direction involves functional polymer materials, colloids and coatings, including super lyophobic functional surfaces, high-efficiency antibacterial, bactericidal coatings, anti-bioadhesive surfaces, high-efficiency anti-fog/anti-frost coatings, self-healing polymer materials. And coatings, organic/inorganic hybrid polymer microspheres, and smart coatings for early metal corrosion and automatic corrosion protection. In the past ten years, as the project leader (11) or co-head (5), Professor Ming has hosted 16 research projects in the United States and the Netherlands, and obtained research funding of about 4 million US dollars. He has published more than 80 papers in SCI journals, including Nano Letters, ACS Nano, Macromolecules, Advanced Materials, Chemical Communications, ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces, Langmuir, Polymer, etc., which have been cited by him for more than 3,000 times. Six of the papers were cited more than 100 times in length; eight additional book chapters and eight patents (including three authorized US patents) were published.
