On the afternoon of June 1, Chen Wei, President and Deputy Secretary of the CPC Committee of Jiangnan University, visited the School of Chemical and Material Engineering for research and guidance. Min Huang, Director of the President’s Office, also participated in the visit. Members of the Party and administrative leadership team of the School attended the research meeting.

Qingwei Pan, Party Secretary of the School of Chemical and Material Engineering, reported on the deepening and effective implementation of the themed education campaign on studying and implementing Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. Ren Liu, Dean of the School, then presented the School’s efforts to strengthen the development of fundamental disciplines aligned with industrial needs, and to promote the development strategy of "Chemical Engineering + Materials" and "Fundamentals + Distinctive Features." He also outlined the School’s research strategy, which involves refining the scientific research evaluation system, reshaping research priorities, and cultivating landmark achievements. Additionally, he discussed measures for building a sustainable, high-quality talent development system through multi-level, targeted recruitment and training. He further elaborated on the school’s considerations and plans for strengthening systematic platform development, with a focus on evaluation, continuous development, and strategic upgrading.

President Wei Chen fully affirmed the recent achievements of the School of Chemical and Material Engineering. He noted that the School’s leadership team should study and understand General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important exposition on “enhancing capabilities through learning,” and continuously improve their political, intellectual, and practical capabilities. He provided guidance on the School’s sustainable and high-quality development, offered a detailed analysis of the current structure of degree programs, national policy priorities, shortcomings in previous application materials, and successful experiences of peer institutions, and gave targeted guidance on degree program applications. He also discussed key issues of concern to faculty and students regarding the construction of the Dongjiu Campus and the relocation process. He expressed his hope that the School’s leadership team would seize the opportunity, make sound plans for the Dongjiu Campus, advance its development and ensure its effective utilization. He urged them to strengthen strategic planning, attach great importance to degree program applications, and lead the faculty and students in carrying forward the School’s legacy while pursuing innovation, and make sustained efforts to advance the School’s high-quality development.
