November 21-23, 2024, the Dongjiu Forum on Advanced Functional Materials was successfully held in Lecture Hall C106, Zhixing Building, Dongjiu Campus, Jiangnan University. The forum was hosted by the School of Chemical and Material Engineering at Jiangnan University and the Key Laboratory of Synthetic and Biological Colloids (Ministry of Education), and co-organized by the Jiangsu Materials Society. More than 20 experts and scholars from over ten universities and research institutions attended the forum, including representatives from Tsinghua University, Fudan University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, University of Science and Technology of China, Tianjin University, Nankai University, Nanjing University, Southeast University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Jiangnan University, Beijing University of Chemical Technology, Soochow University, Northwestern Polytechnical University, Nanjing Tech University, Wuyi University, and the Technical Institute of Physics and Chemistry (Chinese Academy of Sciences). Participants engaged in academic exchanges on the latest research achievements and development trends in the field of advanced functional materials.

The forum received significant attention from the university and the school. Academician Wei Chen, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Jiangnan University Committee and President of Jiangnan University, made a special trip to Yixing to engage in enthusiastic discussions with the attending experts and scholars, extending a warm welcome to all participants. The opening ceremony was presided over by Qingwei Pan, Secretary of the CPC Committee of the School of Chemical and Material Engineering. Yinglu Zhang, Vice President of Jiangnan University, attended and delivered a speech. She extended a warm welcome to the distinguished scholars from across the country and expressed her hope that the attending faculty and students would take this forum as an opportunity to exchange ideas, witness development, build friendships, leverage disciplinary advantages, and build consensus within the industry, thereby making new contributions to the advancement and development of Jiangnan University's academic disciplines.

The forum featured 16 keynote presentations on topics including: elucidation and application of ice crystal formation mechanisms; anomalous diffusion in polymer networks; Flash DSC characterization of thermal conductivity in microscale materials; colloidal molecular functional materials; coenzyme-based supramolecular polymer medical adhesives; self-assembled phototherapeutic nanomedicines; cell-mimicking materials and their translational medicine applications; design and application of framework polymer membranes; the power of fiber twisting; design, synthesis, and properties of liquid crystal molecular materials; nanoimprint lithography photoresists; ion separation membranes based on strong polyelectrolytes; 3D printing of polymer-derived ceramics guided by microwave-absorbing metastructures; stimuli-responsive luminescent flexible hydrogen-bonded organic frameworks; radiative cooling materials and their applications in electrical equipment; and polymer-based electromagnetic functional composites. The insightful presentations, delivered by renowned experts and professors with appropriate depth and accessibility, greatly benefited the attending faculty and students. Participants actively engaged in discussions, and the venue frequently resonated with enthusiastic applause.

At last, Professor Tianxi Liu from Jiangnan University delivered concluding remarks, expressing sincere gratitude to the experts and scholars for their excellent academic presentations and congratulating the forum on its complete success. The forum provided a platform for faculty and students to understand the latest research progress in advanced functional materials, exchange academic ideas, and broaden their academic horizons.
